Pregnancy, Labor, and Birth have such an intense impact on a person's body, and while our bodies are perfectly designed for this work, our culture is not. American society revolves around our desk jobs and long commutes, followed by relaxing in deep seated couches. This combined with a lack of education on safe exercise during pregnancy and recovery and available resources to help with this aspect of parenthood have led to a nation where 1 in 3 birthers develop problems with urinary incontinence and 1 in 12 with fecal incontinence. It's time to stop being too embarrassed about our bodies to take proper care of them! Unfortunately most postpartum people experiencing trouble with their pelvic floor are told ¨welcome to motherhood! "and directed to the incontinence isle of their local grocery store. I believe the health care community needs to do better for new parents to help them recover their strong bodies safely and with confidence. Below are a few of my favorite pelvic floor resources to help you get your new and improved body in tip-top shape.
